The main feature of this breed is its very thick and dense coat, which helps the dog to survive even the coldest temperatures. Due to such vegetation, the dog seems much larger in size than it really is. But, despite this, caring for a shepherd dog consists only in regular combing of the coat, in order to avoid tangling. There is no need to constantly wash the animal, you can only clean its paws after a walk if you keep your pet at home.

Due to the characteristics of the body, Caucasian Shepherd Dogs are very economical in food - they require less food compared to dogs of other breeds. It will be enough for you to feed the dog once a day during the warm season and twice during the cold season. Also, this breed is conservative in food, it can eat monotonous food. But, despite this, special attention should be paid to the dog's nutrition, since the health of your pet depends on it. The diet of the Caucasian Shepherd Dog must be balanced.
Step 3
As for any other breed, the basis of the diet of a shepherd dog is food of animal origin (meat, offal). In addition, raw vegetables, boiled cereals and jam should be added to the feed. Even as an adult dog, shepherd dogs love milk, but drinking it irregularly can cause diarrhea.

The daily amount of feed should be calculated according to the type of food. For 1 kg of weight, a shepherd needs 35-45 grams of feed (and the liquid content should be at least 70-75%) and 10-15 grams of dry food. An important role is played by maintaining the diet. The Caucasian Shepherd Dog needs to be fed the same number of times at a certain time.

If you are going to keep a dog on the street, then it needs to build a kennel. It should be located in a dry place and not far from the house (no more than 10 meters). For the winter time, the booth does not need to be insulated, since the dog's thick hair will protect it from any frost.
