Rabies is a very dangerous viral infection that leads to damage to the central nervous system, and ultimately to death. Absolutely all warm-blooded animals and humans can get rabies. But most often dogs become infected with this infection. Determining rabies in a dog is not difficult.
Instructions
Step 1
The first stage of rabies in a dog is characterized, as a rule, by abrupt changes in its habitual behavior. The animal becomes irritable, wayward, does not respond to a call, barks for no apparent reason, hides in dark corners, or, conversely, becomes too affectionate.
Step 2
In addition to behavior, the appetite of a rabies-infected dog also changes. She can completely refuse food, but at the same time swallow various inedible objects, for example, stones, pieces of wood, straw.
Step 3
In the initial stages of rabies, the dog's swallowing is at times difficult. You may even think that a bone is stuck in the animal's throat. The dog wants to drink all the time, but it manages to swallow a very small amount of liquid.
Step 4
You can determine the first stage of rabies in a dog by both increased salivation and liquid feces with an admixture of foreign objects. A distinctive feature of the initial stage of rabies is also an increase in the sexual instinct in the animal.
Step 5
The second stage of rabies in a dog usually occurs 1-3 days after infection and lasts about three days. You may notice too violent behavior of the animal: the dog tears the surrounding objects to pieces, furiously digs the ground with its claws. The appearance of an animal infected with rabies expresses horror, cruelty and suffering. Attacks of violence are replaced by a state of apathy to everything.
Step 6
The dog's voice in the second stage of rabies becomes hoarse, barking is replaced by a prolonged howl. The animal seeks to run away from home, and anywhere. On its way, the dog tries to bite all oncoming animals and people.
Step 7
Imperceptibly, the second stage of rabies passes into the third, paralytic. Its duration does not exceed 4-5 days. The dog has paralysis of the tongue, pharynx, lower jaw, and pelvic girdle. Then the animal falls into a coma and dies.
