Ability to bring a stick at the command "Aport!" is considered one of the basic skills of a dog that has an owner. As a rule, purebred dogs are trained by professionals in training courses. However, even a dog breeder can train his pet.
Instructions
Step 1
Start training your dog as early as possible, ideally from puppyhood, while the animal is full of curiosity about the world around it. Start training in a confined space so that the "student" is not distracted by foreign objects. A large corridor or hallway in an apartment, or a courtyard at your house will do.
Step 2
Sit the dog next to your left leg and keep the animal on a short leash. Squeeze the stick in your right hand. Call your pet by name, and then shout: "Aport!" throw the stick a short distance and sharply loosen the leash. If the dog shows no interest in a flying object, proceed gradually. First, try to interest the dog with a stick as a toy: hold it in front of the student's nose, tease. When the goal is achieved, and your ward tries to pull the object out of your hands with his teeth, let him do it, while again say loudly: "Aport!" This word should only be associated with a stick, so don't use it under other circumstances.
Step 3
After the dog has taken a stick in its teeth (pretend you want to take away the prey so that the dog fixes its grip), run a few steps with it. Return to your seat and repeat the exercise. After a while, no longer giving a new toy, shout "Aport!", Throw the stick and run to it with the dog.
Step 4
When the dog learns that with a certain word he needs to run after "prey", complicate the task. Now let the dog go alone, but as soon as it takes a stick in its teeth, call out to your ward by name, say: "Come to me!" and stretch out your hands with the treat in your palms. When it comes up, exchange the stick for a treat with the "Give!" Command. Repeat the training exercise several times, then remove the treat.
Step 5
Do not force a stick into the dog's mouth, even if the training is unsuccessful. Keep in mind that on average it takes a dog at least two weeks to learn a new command. Take your time: repeat the exercise only twice or three times at a time.
