Gain trust
It's a normal reaction that a puppy that you just recently brought from a breeder won't be petted. All dogs have different temperaments: some are sociable, friendly and easily make contact, while others admit only those they trust, avoiding touch from strangers. The puppy doesn't know you yet, so show the animal that he can trust you before cuddling in. Do not insist on touching, but talk to the dog more often, treat it with a treat when the puppy runs to you, involve the dog in the game. After a while, the puppy himself will provide you with a fluffy side.
If the puppy has been at your home for a while, but still does not make contact, most likely you have made a mistake somewhere. Most often, the reason is that the puppy was scolded too much for any offense, or the owners were not at all able to explain to him the rules of behavior in the house, which puts the dog in an extremely awkward position. Try to restrain your trainer ardor and praise rather than punish your pet. Gradually, your relationship will improve.
Personal space
Like humans, dogs have their own personal space. Depending on the breed and character traits, some dogs are ready to hug everyone (as sometimes some sociable people), while others prefer to interact with a person at a certain distance, avoiding contact. If your puppy is of the second type, respect his interests. When intending to pet an animal, draw its attention to yourself by calling by name so that the touch does not come as a surprise. Do not try to hug or hold a sleeping or busy puppy. In the case when you extended your hand, and the dog evades, you should not swear, defiantly take offense or lament that the dog does not love you. Step back, and after a few minutes call the puppy to you, pet him and treat him with a treat.
The game
You reach out in the hope of patting the puppy's ear, but the animal may interpret this step as an invitation to step into the game and grab your hand with sharp teeth.
