Siberia is a territory with magnificent and rich nature. Very rare animals live here. However, the development of the natural resources of this region had a rather strong negative impact on their habitat, the number of many species decreased to critical numbers.
Most of the fauna of Siberia is made up of invertebrates - spiders, insects and other arthropods. Most of the vertebrates are birds. There are slightly fewer amphibians, reptiles, fish and mammals in this region.
Animals from the Red Book
Siberia is home to 10 thousand species of insects, of which 54 are listed in the Red Book. One of the most famous is the large and bright Apollo butterfly, found on the Bugotak hills.
Out of 78 species of mammals, 19 are listed in the Red Book. Among them is the river beaver that lives on the northern rivers Tara, Tartas, in the floodplain of Ini - the rivers of the Cherepanovsky region.
There are also more than 300 species of various birds. Of these, 74 species are in the Red Book. For example, the barred owl tops the list of the rarest owls - one of the largest in the world, second only in size to the owl. On the coast you can see settlements of graceful shylobeak waders. But the rarest species of waders is the thin-billed curlew. One of the most beautiful birds of Siberia is the red-breasted goose living in the tundra. In short, there are a lot of rare birds here.
The rivers and lakes of Siberia are filled with fish - here you can see more than 30 species of them. The Red Book includes: Siberian grayling, taimen, nelma, muksun, Siberian sturgeon, sterlet.
Danger to rare animals
The most important threat to the animals of Siberia today is illegal fishing, carried out by poachers for financial gain. For example, they harvest musk deer with the help of prohibited trailers in very large quantities with the aim of selling musk. At the same time, no one pays attention to the fact that hunting for this animal is completely prohibited.
Illegally, without a license, with the help of prohibited means, marals and bears are also taken for resale. Badgers, marmots, fur-bearing animals, ibex are also caught here. By the way, often poachers do not even take the carcasses of killed animals with them. They just take with them what interests them: bears have paws, bile, fat and skin, marals have bones and antlers, marmots and badgers have fat. They also pay attention to such exclusive trophies as argali horns or leopard skin. However, the most "terrible" people are those who kill these animals because of their love of hunting.
