A couple of months ago, your kitties were born. During this time, they grew up, got stronger and, finally, moved to their new owners. It's time to take care of your cat mom - a difficult period has come for her. This is the normal course of events, but, unfortunately, it happens in a different way. Perhaps the kitten died for some reason, but the cat's milk continues to be produced, and there is a risk of mastitis.
It is necessary
- - bromcamphor;
- - parlodel;
- - galastop;
- - kitikat or whiskas.
Instructions
Step 1
You have selected the owners for the kids and you know exactly when they will go to their new place of residence. Already a couple of days before the event, you should take care of the cat to reduce the risk of lactostasis and mastitis. Start with nutrition. Reduce the amount of water for drinking and the amount of protein in the animal's diet in half. Eliminate dairy foods. After you have given the last kitten, do not feed or water the cat for at least a day. Give her a sedative, such as bromcamfar.
Step 2
If the animal is doing well, there is no swelling and inflammation, after a day, start giving it a little water and food with a low protein content. To do this, mix Kiticat or Whiskas cat food with some kind of porridge. You can give a small dose of a diuretic, such as Parlodel. True, it can induce vomiting.
Step 3
Galastop is a drug used to suppress lactation and treat false puppies in bitches. It can be successfully used for cats as well. Galastop helps to reduce lactation and prevents the development of mastitis. It is used for 4-6 days with food or simply on the tongue of the animal at the rate of 3 drops per 1 kg of body weight. At the initial period of treatment, drowsiness, loss of appetite, and vomiting may occur, which, however, is not a reason for its cancellation. The drug cannot be used after surgery.
Step 4
Do not bandage the cat's belly or put on a blanket. This does not help reduce lactation. Rather, on the contrary, the amount of milk produced after such an action increases. You should also not smear the cat's belly with camphor. If, despite all your actions, the condition of the animal has deteriorated, the mammary glands are hard and hot, contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. Perhaps this is mastitis - a disease that requires immediate medical attention.
