The Australian Mist is a breed that was developed in Sydney in 1975-76. Initially, it was called spotted smoky, but later it was renamed, because cats of this breed were recorded only on the Australian continent. The Australian clouded cats are descended from the Abyssinian and Burmese breeds. The Australian Smoky breed is quite muscular and strong, but has an average build. Their tail and neck are short, the muzzle has a triangular shape, the ears are small in size, rounded. The eyes of the representatives of the Australian Mist breed are golden, almond-shaped. Their paws are of medium length with a characteristic dark ticking.

Wool and color

The Australian smoky has a short coat, soft and delicate to the touch, with a light undercoat on the belly. It fits loosely to the body, easily shaggy. The color is inherent smokiness, which is clear from the name of the breed, and this applies to all six types of color: blue, chocolate, brown, golden, caramel and lilac.

Character

Cats of this breed are social, sociable, they easily converge with their owners. They are very attached to home, in confined spaces they feel quite comfortable, it is difficult to tolerate a change of environment, so it is better not to take them with you on trips, but to leave them while they are away from relatives or friends. Australian smoky ones get along well with dogs and other pets, with strangers they behave at worst indifferent, but most often they are friendly, they love children. Despite their sociability, representatives of this breed tolerate loneliness well.
