The peacock, spreading its luxurious tail, is an unusually beautiful sight. It is because of the incredible beauty that the peacock was considered a sacred bird in Ancient Greece and Rome. True, this did not prevent the Romans from eating peacock meat.

Instructions

Step 1

It may seem that the peacock spreads its tail out of pride in order to show its beauty to the world. In fact, there are other, much more serious reasons for this. The male peacock dissolves its beautiful feathers exclusively during the mating season in order to attract the attention of the female. The plumage of a peacock is demonstrated during his mating dance. I must say that the dance itself is a very entertaining sight. The peacock unfolds its tail like a fan and bows its head low in front of its "beautiful lady". At this moment, it is simply impossible to take your eyes off him. At the end of the ritual, the peacock tries to find a treat for the female in the grass, and she accepts it favorably.

Step 2

The head, neck and chest of the peacock are painted in dark purple tones combined with shades of green and gold. The head is decorated with a paler crest, consisting of 24 feathers. The body of the peacock is green, and the wings are coppery. Of course, the most beautiful part of the peacock's appearance is the train that turns into a magnificent tail. The length of the male peacock as a whole is 2, 2–2, 3 meters, the tail is about 1.5 meters. The tail color is a combination of green, blue and golden colors, which create patterns of "eyes", sometimes changing colors. To maintain this splendor, the peacock has a shorter tail made up of stiff feathers. The only drawback of the regally beautiful peacock is its extremely unpleasant voice, which resembles the creak of an unlubricated cart. Perhaps such a beautiful plumage is given to him to compensate for this shortcoming.

Step 3

The female peacock has a more modest size and a very restrained coloration. Instead of a beautiful train, she has an ordinary tail, although her head is decorated with a small crest. The fact is that in nature everything is arranged reasonably: in most birds, it is the male who tries to conquer the female, attracting her attention with bright plumage. It is not necessary for a female to "dress up": she is already an object of worship. It is interesting that in Russia for a long time it was believed that the pava (and this is the name of the female peacock) has an equally magnificent tail. The image of a pea-tree that has spread its tail can be seen in traditional Russian embroidery. Perhaps, such representations gave an impetus to the emergence of the image of a fabulous firebird.

Step 4

At the end of the mating season, the pava lays about 10 brown eggs. Currently, peacocks are bred mainly for decorative purposes.
