Step 1
It is undesirable to teach small kittens (1-2 months) to dry food. But if the owners still decide to start feeding with this product, "drying" must first be prepared. The food should be soaked in special kitten milk with a low lactose content (sold in pet stores), low-fat kefir, broth, or in water. The resulting gruel can be mixed with meat feed (minced meat).
Step 2
The stomach and intestines of small kittens are very delicate and sensitive, therefore, dry solid food can lead to microtraumas of the mucous membrane. Dry food should not only be poured with warm liquid, but wait until it absorbs it and swells. After that, with a fork, you can make a semblance of porridge-puree for a kitten.
Step 3
In order for the kitten to quickly switch to solid food, the cat during lactation must be fed with the same food to which the baby is planned to be transferred. At this age, you should not give your pet only dry food, you need to alternate such food with finely chopped meat, poultry and fish fillets.
Step 4
Starting from one and a half months, gradually dilute dry kitten food with less liquid and do not mix it with softer food. The transition should be smooth, dry food in its pure form without adding water to the kitten without fear can be given only to three months.
Step 5
By two months, the kitten should switch to solid food completely. At 2-3 months, kittens develop taste preferences, therefore it is advisable to accustom pets to dry food at this age. At this time, the kittens still have a small stomach, but they do not feel full, so they cannot decide for themselves how much they eat, it is best to give them food in small portions four times a day. Pets that eat dry food especially need access to clean water.

At 3-6 months, kittens begin to change their teeth, therefore, during this period, dry food is most useful, it will help temporary teeth fall out faster and will contribute to the development of chewing muscles. Together with dry food, the kitten can be given boiled chicken, meat, fish and cottage cheese. High-quality dry food contains all the necessary vitamins and minerals, but if it is not the main food, you can additionally give the kitten special vitamin supplements.

6-12 month old kittens continue to grow, but they can already be fed in the same way as adult animals. It should be noted that it is undesirable to give milk to pets at any age, this can lead to digestive upset. For grown-up animals up to a year old, it is better to diversify food, and not to transfer immediately and completely to dry food. The food itself must be of high quality, it is advisable to choose a product designed specifically for kittens.
