Complementary feeding should be started at 14 days of age. By this time, the eyes and ears of the puppies are already opening, the kids are quite active. The puppies should be taken in turns and lightly dipped in a bowl of milk with their muzzle. A small bowl or saucer is suitable as a dish. The most convenient way to feed the baby is by sitting him on his knees and holding the bowl with one hand and the baby with the other. Just put a towel on your knees. But you can carry out this procedure on the floor. Of course, most of the milk will be spilled by, but puppies very quickly understand what is required of them.

After 3-4 days, you can start feeding the babies with porridge. There are plenty to choose from here. Many breeders cook semolina porridge in milk. There are also those who feed puppies with soluble baby cereals. This is also very convenient and the little ones, as a rule, like it. To diversify the diet, you can grind buckwheat, rice, oatmeal on your own on a coffee grinder, or grind ready-made porridge with a blender. However, now in pet stores, along with dry bitch milk, you can also find special cereals for feeding puppies. True, they are not cheap, and you can not find them in every city.

From day 21, the baby's body is ready to digest meat. And you don't need to boil anything. Scrapped meat is prepared for the puppies. There are several ways to do it. Scrape frozen meat with a knife, grate slightly thawed meat on a coarse grater, grind into minced meat. Then the prepared meat must be rolled into portioned balls the size of a phalanx and frozen. These balls will last for a long time - one serving is enough for a puppy in one meal. Defrost the required number of balls for each feeding. Put the portion in portions directly into the mouth. Already on the second or third day, the puppy will chew meat very actively.

Remember that the meat should be beef or lamb - you should never give pork to dogs. And it is not necessary to choose a tenderloin or entrecote. Much better and healthier for babies - beef kidneys. They are relatively inexpensive, but contain a huge amount of essential vitamins and minerals. By the age of one month, it will be enough to cut the meat into a piece the size of a fingernail and give in portions equal to a tablespoon.

In addition to meat, it's time to introduce calcined cottage cheese. To obtain it, add 3-4 tablespoons of calcium chloride per liter of milk. collect the curd flakes, and drain the whey or give to the bitch. And by the age of one month, you can start giving adult food. Here the choice is yours - to feed the puppy with natural food, or to accustom him to ready-made food. If you settled on a ready-made option, then choose soft canned food, or pre-soak the granules of dry food in warm water or milk until softened. Just do not pour boiling water, otherwise all the vitamins in the feed will be destroyed. If you are for natural feeding, then you can cook porridge from various cereals - wheat, rice buckwheat. Cook the broth separately and mix with the porridge. For its preparation, head meat, kidneys, tripe are suitable, although the latter do not have a pleasant smell.

The best way to distribute feedings is: 1 feeding - porridge with meat, 2 feeding - cottage cheese, 3 feeding - porridge with meat, 4 feeding - milk semolina or oatmeal, 5 feeding - raw scraped meat. Meat should be given at night because it is digested slowly and the puppies will be full all night and will not wake up from hunger.
Step 8
By the age of one month, puppies eat themselves from a bowl placed on the floor. It makes no sense to put a separate bowl for everyone - the kids will still gather around one or two bowls. It is best to put 2-3 deep bowls, depending on the number of puppy sizes. However, it is still more advisable to give cottage cheese and meat to each puppy individually, so that the stronger and more active puppies do not take away from the weaker ones.
