An aquarium with decorative fish is a great decoration for your interior. However, we must not forget that living creatures live there that need care and feeding. The aquarium can also be a good lesson in responsibility for your kids.
Instructions
Step 1
First you need to choose the aquarium itself. You can purchase a ready-made version at a pet store. Or you can order an individual project that fits perfectly into your interior. When buying, pay attention to the tightness. The best option is a one-piece aquarium, as you can not be afraid of water leakage. If the future fish house consists of several sheets of glass glued together, you will need a pallet anyway. Also inspect the aquarium for defects: cracks, scratches or any other imperfections that could lead to sudden breakdown.
Step 2
At the pet store, purchase special river sand to fill your aquariums. The amount of sand depends on the volume of the tank, a sales assistant can help you here. To decorate the aquarium, you can buy seashells and pebbles, stylized jugs and other decorative items. If you want to plant live plants in your aquarium, you shouldn't do it right on the river sand. First, fertilize the soil with well-boiled peat, add river clay and only then plant the algae. A lot of plants are not required as they grow quickly and can fill an entire aquarium.
Step 3
A vessel for fish must be filled with filtered water (ordinary tap water that has passed through a household filter is suitable) or raw, settled water (fish cannot tolerate chlorine). It is necessary to pour water very carefully so as not to raise the river sand. Usually they use a rubber medical tube, one end of which is inserted into the aquarium, the other into a vessel with prepared water. With a large volume of the aquarium, a special filter is installed to purify the water. You will also need an apparatus for enriching water with air.
Step 4
The next step is to buy the inhabitants themselves. You can bring them home at a regular bank. Rinse it with pre-boiled water without detergents, fill it up to half with aquarium water. You can also use a plastic bag, making sure it is air-tight. To be sure, it is better to place one bag in another.
Step 5
Don't forget to buy food for your fish. The most common species: bloodworms, cyclops, daphnia, tubifex and dry food - all of which can be purchased at any pet store. Store it in a dry, dark and cool place so that it does not rot and deteriorate.
Step 6
The choice of a specific type of fish depends entirely on you. The most unpretentious aquarium inhabitants are guppies - small colorful fish. They do not need a lot of food and get along with other inhabitants. You can also get swordfish. They have a pleasant black and red color, are very calm, not aggressive. Snails and small catfish will become good neighbors for the fish - in addition to the decorative function, they will cleanse the aquarium of pollution. When choosing more exotic species, find out if they need special conditions, and what kind of neighbors you can add to them.
