Any aquarist sooner or later faces the problem of storing a tubule at home. Fish cannot eat only dry food for a long time, and appetizing live worms not only arouse their genuine interest, but also significantly increase indicators such as fertility, life expectancy and health. Buying a pipe maker is not that difficult, but here's how to store it correctly?
It is necessary
- - basin;
- - several containers;
- - running water;
- - refrigerator.
Instructions
Step 1
Pay attention to the quality of the pipe maker when purchasing. The worms should be bright red, look mobile, and not have an unpleasant odor. Often, inexperienced aquarists purchase an already dead pipe maker in stores or one that, despite all the tricks, has very little time left to live. To avoid such a mistake, always carefully check the quality of the live feed and make sure that the tubifex is really fresh and can survive for a long time if stored correctly.
Step 2
Place the tubule maker in a container with a little water. Make sure that the live food does not lie in a thick layer, since in this case the worms located below will suffocate from the lack of oxygen. The layer should not be very large, but also not translucent. Stay in the middle. Pour a 1-1.5 cm thick layer of water on top of the pipe maker. It does not make sense to pour a lot of water, but you should not dry your pipe makers either. Once you have found the correct ratio of water, layer of worms and depth of container, place your precious cargo in a cool place. It is better that this is a refrigerator compartment or a balcony. The main thing is that the worms do not freeze, but they are not too active in the heat.
Step 3
Since in its natural habitat, the tubifex lives in running water, for normal life it needs to constantly change the water. Ideally, twice a day, but if this is not possible for you, try equipping the container in such a way that some of the water is periodically refreshed. Place the pipe maker in a bowl of water and place a tap above it, from which running water will flow in a thin stream. Since all live food is still at the bottom, there is no need to worry that it will be washed over the edge of the basin, you can safely equip your impromptu storage with a device for removing excess water.
