Alabai's homeland is Central Asia. This breed of dogs has been known since ancient times in Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan. These dogs are guards, guard human property, their territory, and are also used to protect flocks of sheep.
Instructions
Step 1
In fact, there is no such breed as Alabai, this is a title once received by a Central Asian Shepherd dog in Turkmenistan in dog fights. It was these dogs that later began to interbreed with other breeds, with mastiffs, Rottweilers, because people wanted to make a fighting dog. After that, Alabai began to appear, about which they now write and talk a lot.
Real males of the Central Asian Shepherd Dog at the withers reach 70 - 75 centimeters, bitches 60 - 65. They weigh an average of 80 kilograms. But these dogs are compact, lean, have good endurance and unpretentiousness. In Central Asia, shepherds do not feed them at all, and they eat the predator that the dogs get.
Step 2
Nowadays, white Alabai are in vogue, at least many people buy just such puppies, but this is not their real color. Almost all white Alabai are artificially bred. The color that is inherent in the Central Asian Shepherd Dog is black, gray, brown, fawn. And also red, piebald, brindle or speckled. Combinations of white and brown, white and black and other colors are possible.
The puppy's head is massive, wide, and has a flat forehead. The transition to the muzzle from the forehead is not very pronounced. The nose is large, usually black or brown. The eyes are usually dark, round, far apart. The ears are small, set low, and are triangular in shape. Usually they are stopped.
The body of the dog is powerful, the neck is short, the chest is wide and deep. The back is straight, broad and strong. The belly of the animal is slightly tucked up, the croup is wide and muscular. The paws are strong, the bones are very strong, oval and compact. The tail of a dog is usually docked, animals keep it low. The coat is coarse, straight and harsh. There is a thick undercoat.
Step 3
When choosing a dog, one must first of all look not at the puppy himself, but at his parents, how adequate they are. Attention should be paid to their working qualities. Were they really working or sitting in an open-air cage, and are only show dogs.
Real Alabai are brave and determined. They calmly relate to people, do not attack a person. If a stranger appears on the territory guarded by the Alabai, the animal will not throw and bite the person, it will simply drive him into a corner and wait until the owner comes. If the thief runs away, the Alabai will not pursue him.
Step 4
The large dogs that many breeders sell today die early and are prone to joint disease. The dog itself is powerful, but its paws cannot support the weight of its own body. Many keep her on vitamins, so this is not a completely natural dog.
For a very long time, many breeders in Ukraine and Russia have spoiled this breed. In Chelyabinsk, for example, an Alabay bitch was mated with a South African Boerboel. You can imagine what kind of puppies turned out. Alabai, who were bred by humans, have constant problems with their legs, they have dysplasia and some other defects.
