In accordance with the law on keeping pets, any dog in a public place must be muzzled. Owners of dogs of decorative or just small breeds often do not understand the situation when they have to buy a muzzle on the small faces of their pets. It becomes especially sad at the pet store, the owner discovers there a number of powerful muzzles designed to keep the dog from biting and none of them suitable for a small face. In this case, the owners of small breeds of dogs and dogs with a non-standard muzzle can only sew a muzzle on their own.
It is necessary
- - dense fabric, preferably cotton;
- - measuring tailor's tape;
- - threads No. 10 to match the fabric;
- - two straps;
- - strap fastener.
Instructions
Step 1
A muzzle for non-aggressive dogs, worn solely to comply with the letter of the law, is best made from quality woven fabric. Choose fabric in neutral colors that is breathable. Different types of heavy cotton canvases work best.
Step 2
Take measurements of your dog's muzzle. When measuring, leave a small allowance on the slightly open mouth. First, measure the length of the protruding part of the muzzle from eye level to the tip of the nose. Take measurements with a soft tailor's tape at the top of the muzzle, on the sides, and then below. Lastly, measure the distance along the lateral line of the muzzle from the tip of the nose to the occipital point on the dog's head. Record all measurements taken.
Step 3
Draw a pattern for the future muzzle. It is best if it will consist of separate strips 0.5-1 cm wide, depending on the thickness of your dog's muzzle.
Step 4
In accordance with the measurements and the pattern, cut out from the material the required number of fabric strips 4 times wider than the width of the muzzle strips you need. First fold each strip in half so that both ends point inward. Then fold it in half again, leaving the raw edges of the fabric inside the strip. Sew the folded strip at a distance of 1-2 mm from the opening edge. One piece for the muzzle is ready.
Step 5
Follow the same procedure for all the details of your dog's muzzle. Then sew them together according to your pattern. Draw the seams of the perpendicular connection of the strips along the boundaries of the entire intersection and, additionally, diagonally.
Step 6
Take the straps, ribbons, with which you plan to fix the muzzle on the dog's head. Sew a clasp to one of the two straps on one side. On the second strap, make holes in the center on one side, in which the fastener will be fixed when fastening. Sew the holes tightly with a thread to prevent the strap fabric from slipping. According to the measurements, leave the straps the correct length so that you can freely fasten the muzzle on the dog's head. Cut off the rest of the straps. Sew the straps with the free ends to the sides of the muzzle.
Step 7
That's it, the muzzle is ready. Try it on to your dog and fasten it at the back with a clasp. You can safely go out with your pet in a public place.
