The sooner you notice the symptoms of this disease in your pet, the easier it will be for you to restore his health. In no case do not self-medicate - an incorrectly selected course of drugs or an excess of their dose can lead to serious consequences up to the death of a kitten!

Most likely, special antifungal ointments such as thiabendazole or micanazole will be prescribed for your meowing baby. For treatment to be effective, carefully trim the hair of the animal where the ointment needs to be applied. At the same time, try not to irritate or touch the delicate skin of the kitten - this will not only hurt him, but also provoke further spread of lichen.

Be sure to treat the scissors with which you performed this manipulation with alcohol or vodka after each use - they contain ringworm spores and, being non-sterile, can become a source of re-infection of the animal.

Antifungal shampoos containing ethylconazole and miconazole may also be recommended for your kitten. Wash your animal with the prescribed medication as often as directed by your veterinarian.

In especially severe cases, when ointments and shampoos did not help after several weeks of treatment, and lichen progresses rapidly, even spreading to the claws and causing a general deterioration in the pet's condition, medications in the form of tablets may also be prescribed to him. The dosage of oral medications is selected only by a doctor and in strict accordance with the age of the animal.
