Dermatophytosis in dogs can be caused by pathogenic microbes microsporum or trichophyton, or opportunistic mallasesia. Microsporium can be diagnosed using an ultraviolet lamp - it glows green when irradiated. To identify all other types of fungus, it is necessary to do laboratory inoculation. Canine fungal diseases are dangerous for humans, therefore, if they are detected, they must be treated immediately.

Step 1
Before treating fungus in dogs, destroy all old bedding and disinfect everything, including toys. Limit contact with the rest of the family, especially children. A long-haired dog will need to be trimmed as short as possible.
Step 2
Apply systemic therapy with the simultaneous use of therapeutic showers with shampoos and skin treatments with medications. If there are no other prescriptions, purchase vaccines at the pharmacy: "Vakderm F", "Polivac" or "Microderm". The latter, although it is more expensive, but works more effectively - it needs to be injected twice with an interval of 10-14 days. Even if you use it for prophylaxis, the injection will need to be given twice. "Vakderm F" will need to be pricked three times. Please note that some dog breeds (Rottweilers, French Bulldogs, Scotch Terriers and Dachshunds) are sensitive to Polivak, it can cause an abscess at the injection site, which is an allergic reaction. To prevent painful swelling, you can enter simultaneously with the vaccine and diphenhydramine.
Step 3
Animals with reduced immunity, weakened by a previous illness, or simply old, should be treated with antifungal antibiotics. One of the most effective and inexpensive is "Griseofulvin". It is quite toxic, so the dog should be given it together with vegetable oil 1-2 times a day 15-25-60 mg per 1 kg of body weight. Give "Nizoral" 10 g per 1 kg of body weight and in an acidic solution. Itraconazole is an effective, but expensive drug, it is given 10-20 g every day or every other day. All antibiotics can disrupt the gastrointestinal tract and liver function, but in any case, treatment should be continued for a couple of weeks after the symptoms of the disease disappear and negative culture results are obtained.
Step 4
Treat local foci with preparations based on fungicides; it is better to use solutions, rather than ointments that get dirty. Do not overuse the treatment of stains with alcohol-containing solutions, it is enough to wipe the skin once a day so as not to burn it. To wash your dog, use antifungal shampoos (Nizoral, Doctor), you should wash it no more than twice a week. To consolidate the effect, use dosed ultraviolet radiation.
