All kinds of exotic inhabitants you can meet today in the apartments of animal lovers. And rodents (squirrels, hamsters, mice) - long-term and well-studied acquaintances, still take their place in this list of pets that has grown considerably in recent years. Nevertheless, questions related to their content still arise. For example, how to tame a mouse.
Instructions
Step 1
It is not at all difficult to tame a mouse or a rat, but they, like other animals, require a kind, attentive and, due to their small size, careful attitude.
Step 2
Try to be quiet and calm from the beginning. Do not make sudden movements, do not make loud noises, do not grab or wake your pet. Mice rarely bite, but if this happens, it means that the animal is very scared.
Step 3
Do not try to pick up the mouse right away. Stand by the cage for a while, then open the door and extend your hand. Do not forget to put something tasty in the palm of your hand. Give the animal the opportunity to sniff you and take food from the palm of your hand. Carefully stroke the mouse with your finger, let it enjoy the touch of your hands. Do this daily and the mouse will soon get used to your scent.
Step 4
Move your hands carefully, if the animal is not frightened, try to pick it up.
Step 5
Place the mouse on the palm of your hand with the muzzle towards you and cover it with the palm of your other hand on top, or take it with both hands, closing your palms. Be very careful (especially the first time) to avoid crushing or pinching your pet. If you can't catch the mouse right away, you can grab it by the tail. But this method should not be abused, since the animal experiences unpleasant sensations at the same time, which, of course, do not contribute to its early domestication. In addition, the mouse can slip out of your fingers, fall, and be injured.
Step 6
You got the mouse out of the cage. Let her walk around you. Put your hands up, let her walk over them. If the mouse tries to escape, do not hold it down by force. Allow to jump off the hand, and then bring it back. When the mouse gets used to it so much that it begins to freely walk from one hand to the other, begin to slowly move your fingers, bend and unbend them. Do not forget to place a treat in the palm of your hand.
Step 7
If the mouse is not yet used to the hands and constantly bites, wear gloves. When the animal gets used to it and stops being afraid, there will be no more bites and gloves will no longer be needed.
