Transporting goats has a very negative effect on their well-being. Animals are under tremendous stress and can die if not properly transported. There are several ways to transport animals.

Step 1
If you need to transport a large livestock, then the best option would be to hire a covered truck and transport the goats in wooden boxes. Several animals can be transported in one box. They are seated and each goat is tied to a separate short leash. Lay a layer of hay or straw underneath the box. Do not transport goats in an open van, as they can get even more stressed.
Step 2
A small number of goats, for example 2-3 individuals, can be transported in a car. To do this, remove the back seat, lay an oilcloth, and on top of it a layer of hay or straw. Animals should be tied to a short leash in the front seat or other accessible places.
Step 3
There is also experience of transporting goats in the back seat of a car. To avoid getting the car dirty, animals can wear adult diapers.
Step 4
The main livestock of goats behaves calmly during transportation, but there are temperamental individuals who jump and try to jump out all the time on the way. The owner must go in a covered car and in every possible way calm the animals, and also make sure that they do not get tangled on a leash.
Step 5
Before loading the goats into the car, you need to talk to them affectionately, do not shout, do not frighten the animals. To load the goats, you need to put them in boxes, tie them up and load them into the car in the boxes.
Step 6
After transport, the boxes should be unloaded and the goats should be placed in their permanent place. Pens should be prepared, thoroughly cleaned and have fresh litter. The new herd is temporarily housed separately from the main herd, preferably in a different barn, to withstand quarantine and to ensure that the goats are healthy.
Step 7
If a new livestock refuses to eat, then this is normal after the stress. Animals need to calm down and get hungry. Only after that they need to be fed.
