In the upbringing of any dog, forbidding commands should be of great importance. Traditionally, in our country, the "Fu" command is used as a prohibiting one. The dog must be introduced to this command when it is a puppy. The more clearly the prohibitive complex of the basic training course, which includes the "Fu" command, is worked out, the easier it will be in the future education and training of the dog.
It is necessary
- - delicacy;
- - pieces of food (irritant);
- - twisted newspaper;
- - leash.
Instructions
Step 1
When your puppy reaches 4 months of age, start teaching him the "Fu" command. The puppy should be introduced to this command at home, but the learned behavior should be reinforced both at home and on walks.
Step 2
Stock up on a puppy treat in advance so you can provide positive reinforcement in time for the dog's action you want. Tasty small pieces of food should be used as treats to prevent the puppy from quickly eating up the treat.
Step 3
Place a piece of meat or a favorite toy in front of the puppy's nose and give the command "Fu" in a stern voice. Don't let your dog take food or objects. To do this, when trying to grab what is forbidden with your mouth, pronounce "Fu" again strictly and lightly hit the dog's face with a rolled newspaper.
Step 4
In no case do not hit the dog with your hand, but only with something in your hand. It is necessary to calculate the force of the slap based on the breed and size of the dog. A chi-hua-hua puppy will only need a stern voice with a team, and for an Alabai bear cub, you will have to invest in an additional tightly rolled newspaper.
Step 5
As soon as the puppy stops trying to grab the desired item or food, actively praise him and give him a piece of treat for reward. Repeat this training procedure 3-4 times a day.
Step 6
At the same time, keep a close eye on the puppy on outdoor walks. When he tries to take something from the ground into his mouth, strictly give the command "Fu" and make a short but tangible jerk of the leash. Of course, until the puppy fully learns the command, his walking should take place only on a leash.
Step 7
During one walk, do not give more than 2-3 forbidding commands, otherwise the dog will stop perceiving them. The intervals between commands should be of the order of 10-20 minutes, depending on the puppy's resistance to stress. If there are no irritants for the dog in the area, discreetly toss food (irritant) on the ground in front of the dog during training.
Step 8
Do not allow the formation of a skill to be disrupted when the dog, in spite of the given command, nevertheless does the prohibited action. Control your dog with a leash. When you execute her command, immediately positively reinforce her with a treat. It is important that no more than 3-4 seconds elapse between the executed command and the dog's reinforcement.
Step 9
The command "Fu" is considered learned if from the very first command your dog immediately stops the unwanted action. Maintain the learned skill by giving your dog the "Fu" command on a regular basis in various situations.
