Many are unable to part with their pet during the trip or are unable to leave the dog at a pet hotel or with friends. Someone moves by train to another city and, of course, without a beloved pet anywhere. Let's figure out the intricacies of transporting dogs on the train.

Instructions

Step 1

Legal regulations.

In our country, the transport of animals on the train is regulated by the "Rules for the Carriage of Passengers, Baggage and Cargo Luggage on Federal Railway Transport". This legal document divides animals into two categories - small breeds (weighing up to 20 kg) and large breeds. Small breeds of dogs must be transported in a container with a rigid frame, and large breeds must be carried on a leash and muzzle. All animals, regardless of size, need the following documents:

Veterinary passport with notes on the necessary vaccinations (lichen, rabies);

Veterinary certificate that your pet is healthy (issued by the State Veterinary Service three days before departure);

International veterinary certificate (required, instead of a veterinary certificate, if you travel with the animal abroad).

Small breed dogs are treated as carry-on luggage and must be carried on the carry-on shelves. When buying a ticket, they are given a free baggage certificate. It is more difficult with dogs of large breeds. If you are traveling in a reserved seat carriage, you will need to pay for the transport of the dog. This amount is calculated individually, depending on the weight of the dog. At the same time, the dog must be transported strictly in a muzzle and on a leash, fighting breeds in the vestibule of the train under the supervision of the owner. If you are going to travel with your large-sized pet in a compartment, then you will have to redeem all compartment seats.

Step 2

How to prepare an animal.

Take care of vaccinations - they must be delivered no earlier than 30 days before shipment, but no more than 11 months. Show your dog to the veterinarian and ask him for advice on how best to transport the animal.

Train your dog to muzzle and leash beforehand. The animal must understand that they do not want to hurt him by this.

Before leaving, take a walk longer than usual so that the dog can properly go to the toilet, and so that it runs well and is tired, then it will not have the strength to react too violently to a large number of strangers and new impressions. Feed your dog no later than 6 hours before the train to avoid seasickness.

Step 3

Train ride.

Passengers with pets must board no later than an hour before departure, unless the train costs less. Don't be late. If you are transporting a small dog in the carrier, put his bedding on it, the smell of the house will make the journey easier. Be sure to take the dog's favorite toy on the road - this will simply distract the animal in case of panic or excitement.

Take more water, especially if the day is hot. And also dry food, even if you have not fed it to the dog before - it does not spoil.

When boarding and traveling, do not allow your dog to walk on the train. Remember, only you like your dog, there will definitely be someone who will be unhappy with the presence of your pet. At the station, do not be lazy to walk your dog, again, exclusively on a leash and in a muzzle.

Happy travels with your pets.
