Puppies grow very quickly. And if there is a discrepancy between the articles of the dog, then the owner has to seriously think about whether he feeds and maintains his pet correctly? After all, the proportionality of the articles is decisive in the purity of the breed.
Instructions
Step 1
To understand whether your pet is developing proportionally, you need to regularly examine and measure it. The main three measurements that need to be taken are the measurement of the metacarpus, length and height. One of the most important indicators of the dynamic development of a dog is its height, which is equal to the distance from the withers to the floor. The dog must be placed on a flat, flat surface. At home, this is easiest to do either in the yard or in a very spacious and bright room. In this case, the dog is less frightened, and it will be more convenient for you to work.
Step 2
Position the dog so that you can walk freely around it.
Step 3
The dog should stand freely, its posture should be natural.
Step 4
It is quite difficult to measure a dog that is not used to this process, so invite helpers: one to write the data in a notebook and another to distract the animal from your actions and measuring instruments.
Step 5
Having put the dog in the right place, do not start measuring it right away, let it get comfortable, calm down. Ask one of the assistants to give her something tasty, you can entertain her with your favorite toy.
Step 6
Try to keep the measuring devices as little as possible to catch the dog's eye. They usually scare them.
Step 7
The measurement of the height itself is not difficult. You should measure the height from the surface on which the dog is standing to its withers in a vertical line. In this case, you need to carefully monitor that the dog at the time of measurement has the correct stance (no curvature of the body, no deflections, with correctly spaced paws)
Step 8
You will need a ruler, square or tape to measure. Experts recommend using tape because it scares the dog the least.
Step 9
You can also use a stadiometer, which consists of a vertical rack with divisions and a horizontal movable bar. The puppy is brought to the rack in such a way that the rack touches his elbow. The horizontal bar is lowered so that the gap between the bar and the dog's skeleton is minimal, that is, the coat must be pressed tightly enough.
