Step 1
Study in advance the habits and behaviors of the species of ducks that you plan to lure into your traps. Spend enough time for theoretical preparation, as otherwise there is practically no chance of a successful outcome: birds are very sensitive to the presence of humans, and you will have to try not to leave traces behind you and lull the alert ducks to sleep.

Start preparing for fishing with a thorough study of the area. Find out in advance the prevailing wind direction, check the weather forecast. Use not only the testimony of meteorologists, but also seek the help of folk signs.

Select the type of trap to use. It can be a trapping closed house with a cone-shaped passageway or a labyrinth-like entrance. Ducks easily enter such traps that attract them and, in an attempt to choose, use the most obvious paths, bypassing the detours. Use another type of trap - an earthen mortar - if the previous option seems too time consuming. Attract the duck with a platform where it can dry its wings. Secure it in such a way that it falls through under the weight of the duck's body and dig a hole under it, into which the bird will fall. This trap can also be in the form of a basket with a false cover plate. Place the trap on the float logs.
