Step 1
Even when buying a ticket, inform the airline representatives that you are planning to bring a cat with you. Agreement is necessary, as there is a limit on the possible number of animals in the cabin. Check the requirements for the transported animal and its cage - they differ from carrier to carrier.
Step 2
Usually cats are allowed to be taken into the aircraft cabin without any problems. However, some companies have restrictions on the weight of the animal - an animal weighing more than six kilograms can only fly in the luggage compartment. This is unwanted stress for the cat. Therefore, find an airline that flies on the route you need and is willing to take a well-fed cat to the cabin.
Step 3
Choose a bag to carry your pet. It should be made of dense material, have a waterproof bottom and the sum of the measurements of length, width and height should not exceed 120 cm. The bag should easily fit under the seat of an airplane seat.
Step 4
Check the veterinary passport of the animal - it must be marked with vaccinations, certified by the stamp of the veterinarian. Passport is presented at the airport when issuing a boarding pass.
Step 5
Do not feed your pet for several hours before flying. If the cat is nervous, give him a mild feline sedative such as Cat Bayun. For stronger medications, only a veterinarian can recommend. Place an absorbent material such as a baby diaper on the bottom of the carrier. Don't try to stuff the litter box in your bag - it will only get in the way.

If you do not have your own car, call a taxi to the airport - a trip with a nervous animal on public transport will be additional stress for both the animal and you.
Step 7
At the airport, go to the check-in counter. You will most likely be referred for a veterinary check and asked for a surcharge for excess baggage. The cat will be weighed together with the cage. If possible, ask to be seated so that there is an empty chair next to it - there you can put a carrier with an animal.
Step 8
Don't take your cat out of your bag during the flight. He can break free and run away, and it will take a long time to search for him in the cabin. You can put your hand to the cat inside the carrier, contact with the owner will calm him down.
Step 9
When you arrive at your destination, do not forget to feed and water the cat. For a long flight, this will have to be done while still in the air.
