Amphiprion fish, or clown fish, are wonderful, extremely mobile creatures that can decorate any aquarium with their presence. Keeping these unique fish does not require serious preparation; even a novice aquarist can handle it.
Clownfish is a very popular inhabitant of the sea depths among aquarists, a real handsome man, whom American filmmakers made the main character of one of their bestsellers - the animated film Finding Nemo. How to keep this amazing fish, are there any purely individual recommendations for caring for amphiprion and its nutrition?
Aquarium
Clown fish are rather picky creatures, they feel great even in small aquariums. The optimal variant of the underwater "world" for a couple of these multi-colored creatures is an aquarium, the length of which is 80 centimeters, width - 30-35 centimeters and depth (height) - 40-45 centimeters.
When keeping amphiprions, as with any other fish, it is necessary to thoroughly filter the water in the aquarium. For these purposes, an external or internal filter with an activated carbon filler is quite suitable. It is quite acceptable for the process of water filtration and the use of so-called "living stones" - natural reef formations or, more simply, pieces of reefs inhabited by living marine organisms.
Based on the fact that clown fish in nature live in salty sea waters, then the water in the aquarium should also be salty. If you measure the level of salinity of water (density) using a hydrometer, then its indicator should be equal to numbers from 1.021 to 1.023.
The optimum water temperature in the aquarium for keeping clown fish is from 24 to 26 ° C. Among other things, the amphipryo tank should be well lit.
Feeding and other recommendations for keeping
It is best to feed clown fish with ready-made dry food, although they will not refuse frozen shrimp or pieces of shellfish. The frequency of feeding is 2-3 times a day, in small portions.
In order for clown fish to be truly comfortable, an anemone coral polyp should be kept in the same aquarium with them. Actinia is an irreplaceable companion of the amphiprion, at the same time its home and protector. By the way, clown fish also spawn under the reliable protection of their eternal companion.
There are some simple rules to follow to properly care for your coral polyp. For example, you should be aware that anemones, like clown fish, only feel comfortable in a well-lit aquarium. As food, polyps can be content with small pieces of sea fish, squid and shellfish.
In order for this incredible creature not to harm itself, you must ensure that it does not come close to the working filter pump.
