If a pet is injured, a good owner should take it to the veterinarian. However, in some cases, with minor injuries, you can do it yourself. If the wound is extensive, then the dog should be given first aid before the trip.
It is necessary
- - dressings;
- - harness;
- - boiled water;
- - hydrogen peroxide or potassium permanganate;
- - brilliant green or iodine.
Instructions
Step 1
Bleeding is different, and the method of stopping the blood depends on their intensity. There are no large veins and arteries on the face, fingers, and hands of the paws, damage to which could threaten the life of the animal, so a regular bandage will help stop the blood. If large vessels are damaged, tight bandaging cannot be dispensed with, it is necessary to apply a tourniquet to the dog (which does not cancel the bandaging of the wound itself). In summer, the tourniquet can be applied for an hour and a half, in winter - for three and a half. This should be enough time to get to the vet.
Step 2
If the bleeding is insignificant, or you managed to stop it on your own, proceed with further processing. Gently shave off any hair around the injured area. This must be done so that the hairs do not get into an open wound and do not cause infection and suppuration.
Step 3
Rinse the wound with warm boiled water, especially if dirt, debris, dirt, branches have got into it. Then the wound should be washed with a solution of hydrogen peroxide or a weak solution of potassium permanganate (potassium permanganate) of a pale pink color.
Step 4
Lubricate the edges of the wound with iodine or brilliant green. At the same time, remember that only the skin around the wound should be treated, but not the damaged surface itself.
Step 5
Cover the wound with a sterile gauze pad and bandage. For reliability, the bandage can be secured with a special mesh bandage.
