How to train your puppy to walk outside? This question is asked by novice dog breeders when the puppy grows up.
So, your baby has grown up. He received all the necessary puppy vaccinations. Quarantined after the last vaccine. Now it's time to take the puppy outside.
It is necessary
Collar (harness), leash, toy, treat
Instructions
Step 1
If you have taught your puppy to relieve himself on a rag (newspaper, tray, diaper) while he was at home until the end of the vaccination, then gradually move the puppy's toilet closer to the front door during the two-week quarantine period after the last vaccination. In the future, this will help to quickly accustom the dog to the street.
Step 2
Monitor your pet constantly. As soon as he goes to the diaper to relieve himself, pick him up and carry him outside. Until your dog learns to recover only on the street, it is advisable to carry it there in your arms (if, of course, the size of the puppy allows - depending on the breed). After all, the baby can not stand it while you go downstairs with him, and get dirty right on the staircase or in the elevator.
Step 3
Do not let the puppy get off your hands immediately at the entrance. Take it to the place where you will walk with it in the future. You will have to walk with the baby on the street until he does at least something according to his need. As soon as your toddler has recovered, give him emotional praise, pet and give him a treat, offer him a game with a favorite toy, or let him play with another dog. Only after the puppy satisfies its needs can you play with it. So your pet will quickly understand that first of all on the street you need to do "business", and only then come games and entertainment.
Step 4
At first, try to take your puppy outside as often as possible (preferably every 2 hours). It is especially important to get your baby out immediately after playing, eating or sleeping. This will teach your puppy to walk much faster. Over time, reduce your walking frequency to four per day, then to three, and finally to two. Be sure to take your dog out for a walk in the evening before bed and in the morning immediately after waking up.
Step 5
Never punish your puppy if, during outdoor training, he is still doing his business at home (especially on a diaper). Thus, you can achieve the opposite result - the puppy will begin to hide its puddles and heaps from you.
