Bathing your pet is sometimes just a necessary ritual. For example, your four-legged friend got into a ditch in the country or smeared himself in a pot of earth. As you can see, despite the fact that in most cases cats do quite well with their hygiene themselves, with the help of saliva and a rough tongue, there may be situations when help from you and shampoo may be necessary. So how to wash a cat?
Instructions
Step 1
First, make sure your pet is healthy. Bathing for a sick animal cannot do any good, it will catch a cold even more. Moreover, this is a rather strange and unusual procedure for cats, it is hardly worth exposing a sick animal to such stress.
Step 2
Do not bathe your cat less than 4 hours after eating. For an animal with a full stomach, bathing can be very uncomfortable and cause digestive problems.
Step 3
Prepare for this ritual thoroughly: you will need 2 towels. Both are warm and terry. With one you will wrap your animal after the bathing procedure and get the excess moisture wet, and the second, smaller one, should be placed on the bottom of the bath - the cat or the cat will feel much more confident on such "soil".
Step 4
Fill the bathtub with warm water, its temperature should be about 39-40 degrees. The water level should be approximately up to the shoulder blades of the cat, you cannot recruit more - if your pet starts to actively escape, water can get into the ears, and this is extremely dangerous, since the ears of cats are an extremely sensitive place. The water should not be cool, as the cat or cat can chill the internal organs. Remember that the normal body temperature of a healthy animal is slightly higher than the body temperature of a person.
Step 5
You must be very responsible when choosing a shampoo. First, forget the idea that a cat or cat can be washed with shampoo or human soap, even the mild ones are empty. If human skin and hair are designed to be washed regularly, then cat hair is not, and with these means you will wash away all the protective lipids from the hairs and epidermis. Choose a mild shampoo specifically for cats, it can be ph-neutral, natural or egg based. Not suitable for cats and shampoo for dogs, even the smallest and softest, they also wash off the protective lipid layer from the skin and fur.
Step 6
In no case let the newly washed animal walk with wet wool in a cool room, and even more so in a draft! It will catch a cold in no time. Dry the coat gently and gently with a fluffy towel, place the cat somewhere closer to the heater, and then walk over the coat with a comb with rare teeth - this will dry the animal even faster.
