It's not a lack of knowledge, but … laziness, or rather, the convenience of the owners. It is for them that dry or wet ready-made feeds are created. They, according to the producers, must provide the cat with everything it needs to be happy. In fact, unfortunately, this is not the case.
Why are ready-made feeds not the best choice?
Their basis, the so-called ballast, is that the cat either will not digest, or will refuse to eat in the natural environment. A common statement is that cats are merciless meat eaters. It's true. The cat's diet should be dominated by meat.
Of course, in terms of content, ready-made feeds do not come close to this result. More expensive, contain up to 50% of meat components. What can we say about cheap mixtures? And this is not pure meat - "animal products". Trebuha, noses, ears, skins, other offal. The rest is ballast, that is, cereals, vegetables and their derivatives.
Can cats eat it? If it squeezes - certainly. Hunger is not an aunt. However, in nature, they will not eat such food. Therefore, manufacturers add different types of flavor, odor enhancers. The main thing is to encourage the pet to eat, and the owner thinks the pussy is happy. A vicious cycle of poor nutrition ensues.
What to feed the cats with?
There is no need to deceive and insult nature. A cat is a hunting animal. If you give her complete freedom, she will hunt sparrows, pigeons, mice, rats, and other small animals. In rural areas, for example, cats do just that, feeling quite good. At home, when the animal is constantly in the apartment, the hunting instinct is clearly dulled. The pet has to eat what is given. No need to think, however, that this is great for him.
If it is impossible to give the cat a hunt, you should think about the so-called BARF diet. It involves feeding your pet natural foods. You can offer raw meat to the kitten, but supplement it with offal, bones and vitamins. You don't need vegetables and grains - that's completely unnecessary!
This is why prepared foods are not a good choice. The fact of using them is convenient (just go to the store and buy a new bag) and relatively cheap. Television advertisements tell the owners that the kitty is completely healthy and happy, but one can argue here. Therefore, you need to use the mind and knowledge of natural feline habits.
