All turtles are diurnal animals, so you also need to feed them during the day. To correctly determine when to feed, just observe your pet: when you feel hungry, the turtle will begin to move restlessly. In an aquarium or pool, she will look for something edible, while her movements will acquire energy, haste. Well-fed turtles inspect their pond slowly.
Instructions
Step 1
Remember that turtles are predators by nature. Therefore, be sure to include animal food in their diet: bloodworms, minced meat, granulated feed. However, do not overdo it, do not feed them only meat, because there may be a risk of developing rickets.
Step 2
Providing boiled fish to your turtles will help prevent calcium deficiency in the body. Fish can be given with small bones - do not be afraid that the animal will choke. Choose lean fish.
Step 3
Remember to pay attention to plant-based foods, especially if your turtles are young. Include cabbage, lettuce, and pond algae in their diet. Give preference to animal food after your turtles are older.
Step 4
Feed young animals daily, and after two years, they can only be fed a few times a week. In no case do not include bulbous plants (horse sorrel, wolf bast, etc.) in the diet; also forget-me-nots and golden rain can negatively affect your pet's health.
Step 5
Try to combine animal and plant foods in your turtle's diet - this is the best option to achieve complete feeding.
Step 6
Feed your pet after warming up. To do this, 1, 5-2 hours before the start of feeding, turn on the heating lamps. If you do not have this opportunity due to study (work), transfer the meal hours to the evening. Remember that it is better to give food to turtles 3-4 hours before turning off the heating devices, because at elevated temperatures (about 30 degrees), the process of digesting food in them proceeds 30-40% faster than at room temperature.
Step 7
Try not to make noise while eating your pet, as they have very well developed hearing, and the turtle reacts negatively to noise. Do not hand-feed it - animals quickly get used to it and subsequently stop eating themselves.
Step 8
Remove uneaten food immediately after feeding: turtles will be healthier if they are underfed. Overeating is dangerous for these animals.
