Feeding dry food is attractive in all respects: it saves both time and money for the pet owner. The pet is quickly saturated with such food, and the large volume of the pack allows you to spend less money on food. However, most dry food is hazardous to health if consumed consistently.

If it is not possible to transfer your pet to normal food completely, try alternating the intake of food and homemade food. It is better to give dry food in the morning, when digestion is most active. An animal consuming dry food must have constant access to clean water, since dry food, swelling in the stomach of a cat or dog, causes intense thirst. Since the animal must eat two or three times a day, it must carry out the second and third meals "from the master's table" - that is, give the pet for lunch and dinner what you eat yourself.
Step 2
The second scheme for combining regular food and dry food is mixing the pet's favorite food with normal food in a proportion from ¼ to ½ in decreasing order. Such a scheme is used if the food is medicinal or simply contains useful substances and microelements, and it is not yet possible to transfer the animal to full nutrition.
Step 3
However, if you decide to wean the animal from dry food completely, you will have to work hard. Dry food contains special flavor and odor enhancers that quickly become addictive to cats and dogs. Therefore, you will first have to mix the feed with homemade food in the above proportion. By gradually reducing the level of dry food in the mixture, you will imperceptibly transfer it to a regular diet.
Step 4
Many animals may even flatly refuse food other than dry food when trying to wean them. You should not starve such a cat or dog, believing that "if he gets hungry, he will still eat what they give." Try to spark her interest in normal food in this way: treat her with something tasty. Feed the animal with fresh meat, pre-scalded with boiling water, or chicken fillet. The pet will definitely be tempted by such a delicacy, and then gradually it will begin to eat everything else.
