You can buy a cat house in the store, but you can make it yourself. To make it comfortable, like the cat and distract it from the habit of sharpening its claws on furniture, the following elements must be present in it: a mink, shelves and a scratching post, which is often made in the form of a column. Then the animal can climb up the pipe to the shelf above. The shelf should be installed at a height, as cats are very fond of examining their territory from above.

Step 1
Making a house for a cat yourself, in any case, will cost you much less than buying it. Therefore, you may not particularly save in the size of the structure - the higher the resulting house is, the more positively the cat will appreciate it. You choose the optimal dimensions yourself, but it is advisable to make the height higher than 1 m. Do not forget about the stability of the structure.
Step 2
You can come up with the layout of the house yourself, or you can spy in specialized stores for animals: there is a large selection of houses of all kinds. The general design is as follows: at the bottom is a mink box, from which a scratching post goes upward, at its top there is a shelf for rest. For upholstery, it is best to use a carpet that is natural and not too hard so that the cat does not damage the claws. When thinking over the house, make it stable or immediately decide how to fix it to the floor. The cat's house must have a bottom.
Step 3
To make a house for your cat, first cut the walls and floor out of plywood, as well as a pattern for the shelf. Choose the size of the house so that your pet is comfortable there, usually the dimensions 60x60x40 suit any cat. Fasten the box with self-tapping screws or screws, first attach all sides to the back wall, and lastly, fit the front part, if any. Make all attachments so that they are invisible.
Step 4
For a shelf, it is convenient to take a sheet of about 50 by 50 cm. Stick a sheet of foam rubber on it, and cover everything with a cloth on top. Also cover the inside of the house with a cloth, but do not use a stapler or nails, otherwise your animal runs the risk of breaking its claws or accidentally catching them. Glue is the best way to attach fabric to the inside of your house.

Pipe installation. Attach 4 brackets to both ends of the pipe. Then connect it first to the base of the house, and then attach the top shelf. At the end of the operation, wrap the rope around the pipe and secure the ends. The pipe is wrapped in two layers. The first one is fixed with a lot of glue. When the layer dries, it is glued with double-sided tape, and then a second layer is also applied.
