Step 3
Eye ointment. If the doctor has prescribed an eye ointment for the cat, then before the procedure, you can warm it up to body temperature. Then the ointment will be distributed over the eye much faster, the effect will be better. Rinse the cat's eyes, and then, pulling the lower eyelid slightly, apply a little ointment there, closer to the corner of the eye. Cover your eyes with your fingers so that the ointment spreads evenly over the inner surface of the eye.
Step 4
If the cat has mucus or pus leaking from the eyes, then this is a bad sign. It is best to see a doctor rather than prescribe home treatments. Large eye discharge is a sign of an infectious disease or parasite that must be treated with medication. Only a veterinarian can determine the disease and write a prescription.
Step 5
Eyes can turn red from an allergic reaction, which can be triggered by anything from the wrong food to household chemicals. In this case, rinse the cat's eyes. If the symptoms recur, then the cause of the allergy must be investigated and eliminated.
