Dogs, like other animals, are susceptible to diseases such as helminthic infestation. Therefore, pet owners should conduct deworming at least twice a year, that is, the prevention of worms. This is done using special preparations that can be purchased at any veterinary store.
Instructions
Step 1
Carry out deworming only after consulting a veterinarian, since it is he who, after assessing the condition of the dog, can prescribe a certain dosage.
Step 2
In the event that you have just got a puppy, you must understand that it is necessary to give him an anthelmintic drug. This is usually done at the age of one to two months.
Step 3
The dosage of the drug depends on the anthelmintic itself, as well as on the health of the pet. For example, if you find worms in a dog (with feces or vomit), then you must understand that you cannot do from going to the veterinarian. It is the doctor who must determine the type of worms, find out the degree of infection of the animal's body and make a conclusion on the basis of this.
Step 4
Give antihelminthic medications three hours before or two hours after a feed. In some cases, the drug must be given again after two weeks.
Step 5
The dosage of the drug depends on the drug itself. For example, if you carry out deworming of a pet with Kaniquantel Plus, then determine the dosage based on body weight - give one tablet for every 10 kg. Anthelmintic agent for a month, the dose varies in the range of 20-30mg for each kg of live weight.
Step 6
After the drug has been administered to the dog, after 40 minutes, give the animal 3 ml of sunflower oil (per kg of live weight). This is done so that the medicine is better absorbed.
Step 7
If you do not observe the infection of the body with worms in the pet, deworming is still necessary, since the parasites may not make themselves felt. Check your dog at a veterinary clinic twice a year.
