The task of the hound is to find and raise the beast, and then chase it with a voice. To do this, the dog must have certain hunting qualities, most of which are innate and develop in the course of the race. So how do you train a hound?
Instructions
Step 1
Start training a hound at the age of 9-10 months. The best time to do this is in September. For the first time, run after the hare where this animal is found in large numbers, in order to develop the dog's passion for searching and chasing. Later, choose places where it is less common. This will help develop the hound's ability to drive one animal, and not switch during the rut to another, raised by chance (runner, skill, viscosity).
Step 2
Start sweeping in the morning after sunrise. At this time, the dogs easily find a fresh track of the hare, quickly get to it and chase it.
Step 3
Stop at the edge of the forest, drop the "stand" command. In this state, soak the hound for 2-3 minutes. Remove the collar from her and keep it nearby for another 1-2 minutes. Give the command to the skid.
Step 4
Once your dog is on the runner, move in the direction where it is most likely to spot a hare. Show the hound that you are not far away with a loud smack. When you hear a rumbling, move in the same direction to help the dog on the chip.
Step 5
If the dog is silent, then it has lost track. Go to the place of the chip, go around it several times. Gradually widen the circles, tapping on the trees and pounding loudly in order to raise the hare again and encourage the hound to search for it.
Step 6
After picking up a hare, lure the dog on the trail, calling its nickname and shouting. Walk a little in silence and resume the rut.
Step 7
Next time, give the dog the opportunity to find the trail and pick up the hare. However, when you come to the place of the chip, start pounding so that the hound does not go in search of the owner.
Step 8
At the beginning of the sweep, before the dog is pulled in, limit the working time to two hours from the moment of starting up until the dog is taken on the leash.
Step 9
Gradually, the hound acquires the necessary hunting skills. With each subsequent exit, she less and less needs the help of the owner.
