The Pug is a loyal and calm dog breed that is ideal for home keeping, but not suited for long walks in the heat and cold. When caring for a pug, you must take into account some features of the breed.

It is necessary

  • - Nail clipper;
  • - shampoo for dogs;
  • - a hairbrush with metal teeth;
  • - baby lotion;
  • - cotton wool;
  • - cosmetic discs;
  • - cotton swabs;
  • - sea buckthorn or vaseline oil;
  • - petroleum jelly.

Instructions

Step 1

Pugs have claws that grow rather quickly, which do not just interfere with dogs, but disfigure their fingers and change their gait and delivery of paws. In summer, pets grind their claws when walking, but in winter this is impossible. Therefore, dog lovers should have a special clipper in their arsenal. If you do not already have experience, you should contact your veterinarian who will show you how to properly trim growing nails. In the future, this should be done as they grow (approximately once every two weeks).

Step 2

In the ears of a pug, like any other dog, sulfur periodically accumulates, which can form plugs (if it is not removed in time). This can lead to inflammation. Therefore, it is recommended that the youngest age look into the ears of your pet, if necessary, clean them. To do this, take a cotton swab, soak it in sea buckthorn oil, clean water, liquid paraffin or hydrogen peroxide and gently clean the ear canal. Never use the cotton swab deeply to avoid damaging the eardrum. Finally, wipe your ear dry. You can use special drops that are sold at the pet store to clean your ears.

Step 3

When infected with an ear mite, the dog will shake its head, twitch its ears, and try to scratch them. The discharge from their ears will be a heterogeneous mass, like sulfur with grains. For treatment, you should use special drops against ticks or Sprigal spray. In no case do not start the disease, because the longer the pet is sick, the worse the complications can be.

Step 4

Particular attention should be paid to the pug's eyes, if hair or other debris gets into them, as well as if mucus is formed, immediately remove with cotton wool dipped in boiled water. To avoid injury, you do not need to walk your dog on a dusty road or in tall grass. If the pet stubbornly rubs its eyes, it is necessary to show it to the veterinarian, who will prescribe drops or ointment for treatment.

Step 5

Comb the pug in the direction of hair growth once a week with a stainless steel comb. You do not need to press hard on the comb, the movements should be light. So you will save your pet from excess hair, give it a well-groomed look (and the wool will not be scattered all over the house). But there is no need to wait for miracles, pugs shed quite a lot, so you need to be ready for this. Bathe your pet once a month using a special shampoo. Depending on the activity and needs of your pug, you can choose your bathing regimen.

Step 6

The most important point is taking care of the pug's folds. The folds on the face are real magnets for bacteria that get from the bowl of food, from the grass on the street, and secretions from the eyes. It is necessary to accustom you to the cleaning procedure from childhood. You can use an odorless, alcohol-free baby lotion for this. Dampen a cotton pad, lift the fold and wipe. To protect this sensitive area, finish with a thin coat of Vaseline. The frequency of this procedure is at least once a week. If fungus has developed in the folds, inflammation and an unpleasant odor appear, contact your veterinarian immediately.
