Of course, you can take your beloved cat to a salon, or a veterinary clinic. But it is possible that you yourself will be able to perfectly cope with this task. Most often, cats are sheared in the summer heat so that the animal is not so hot. Or for hygienic reasons - wanting to get rid of tangles or reduce the amount of wool shedding on furniture and carpets. If you take your cat to exhibitions, then it is better not to have a haircut at all. There is no guarantee that the cat will grow back on time, because the hair of each animal grows back at an individual rate. But if the purr is exclusively a pet, or does not go to exhibitions anymore, then you can safely proceed.
Step 2
To begin with, the animal must be bathed. “Why?” You ask. There are 2 main reasons. Firstly, if the wool is dirty, then the tool becomes very dull. If you cut clean hair, scissors and clippers without changing the knife will last for the whole cat's life. Secondly, just like with a human haircut, the hairstyle will turn out to be even and in the future it will better retain its shape if the hair is clean.
Step 3
Dry the animal with a hair dryer, or simply pat dry with a towel and let the coat dry. Then place the cat on the table. Comb the animal well. Great if you do it regularly. But if your pet is not too friendly with a comb, then be prepared to find matted hair (tangles).

Use a fine-toothed metal comb to gently comb the mat, starting from the bottom of it. Yes, this procedure requires patience, but there is a chance to preserve this area of the coat. If the mats are large, sprinkle them with a spray to detangle wool and gently comb them with a comb to remove the mats, or, if the case is completely neglected, just cut them off. If you have to cut a matted section of wool, be extremely careful. Carefully feel the line between skin and coat. In this case, it is very easy to injure an animal with scissors. It is easier and safer to remove wool with a machine.
Step 5
The most popular option for the Persians is a lion-like haircut. For this model, remove the wool on the body with a machine "under zero". On the head, the hair remains in its original form. You can only shape with scissors. You can leave the "mane" longer - up to the shoulder blades. Do not cut your neck either. In this case, determine to which area you leave the hair, lift the hair with your hand up to the roots and remove with the machine up to the tail. Trim the edges of the mane slightly with thinning scissors.
Step 6
Take off the fur from the hips, shoulders, chest and abdomen too. But do not cut the legs completely. Leave the puffs from the toes up. They can also be called "socks". They can be round or cylindrical. Their height is about 5 centimeters. Shape them with scissors. All that is above - also cut it bald. Leave about a third of all hair on the tail, from the tip side. Give this area a rounded shape with scissors.
Step 7
Or you can even trim the animal evenly with a machine using a nozzle. Choose the length yourself. You can leave 3, 6, 9 millimeters. This is a matter of your taste. If using attachments, cut against the growth of the fur. Once you have started treating the cat, you can immediately wipe the ears and eyes. After trimming, you can rinse the animal with warm running water without shampoo. The fact is that small cut hairs remain on the skin of the animal during the cutting process and can disturb your cat.
