The Spitz is an adorable dog that makes a great companion. However, these animals require careful care, good nutrition and proper upbringing. Taking a thoroughbred puppy into the house, devote enough time to it - very soon your pet will become an intelligent, healthy and well-mannered adult dog.
Nutrition and care
The most important thing is the correct organization of food. When buying a puppy, check with the breeder for the baby's diet. The first days adhere to the routine for the Pomeranian, then you can gradually change his diet. The puppy can be fed with freshly prepared or commercial food. If you settled on the latter option, choose professional puppy food, and after 6 months, transfer your pet to junior food. Make sure your puppy always has clean water.
Find a place to rest your pet. Spitz needs a cozy couch, protected from cold and draft. Do not place it near the batteries, as well as on the aisle. You can get a comfortable mattress or even a special house - like many miniature dogs, Spitz loves sheltered shelters.
Do not let your dog climb onto beds or chairs. A small puppy can unsuccessfully jump from them and damage the joints. For the same reason, the baby cannot be led up the stairs until he is six months old. You will have to carry the animal for a walk in your arms. Do not forget that until all the necessary vaccinations have been made, the puppy must not be outside.
Spitz has a fluffy, very thick coat. A brush and a comb with long, sparse teeth will help to keep it in order. Train your puppy to brush daily from childhood. It is best to do this after eating and walking, when the pet is calm and friendly.
Raising a puppy
The miniature size of the Pomeranian allows you to solve one of the important problems for the owner - going to the toilet. If you do not want to take your dog outside in any weather, train him to use the litter box. Purchase a large mesh tray with low sides. A dog needs a toilet with a column. To get used to it, you will need disposable absorbent diapers and a few days off. Spitz are very smart and the puppy will soon understand what you want from him. The structure must be washed after each use, and once a week it must be treated with a special disinfectant solution.
To keep your puppy active and cheerful, play with him often. Get a free-range tape measure. Spitz does not need long walks, but he loves to run on the grass or sand. Buy toys for your pet for independent entertainment. It is better if they are made of latex or natural veins - the dog can gnaw and injure plastic products.
Do not expect impeccable obedience from a Pomeranian - he has a rather independent character. However, the dog needs to know its name and a few basic commands. Until the puppy learns his nickname, do not let him off the leash - the pet can easily get lost.
