The large size of the Central Asian Shepherd Dog requires certain conditions for keeping the pet. Home conditions in the case of Alabai are precisely the conditions of a private house with a well-fenced area. Central Asian Shepherd Dogs are in good health and do not suffer from bloating like many other large breeds. Alabai are very hardy and agile dogs, therefore they are perfect as companions for those who like jogging and long walks. The Central Asian Shepherd Dog does not need a special walk, its need for fresh air and physical exercise is fully satisfied by a large fenced area - a park for dogs or the territory of your site. Alabai make excellent guard dogs, but the territory must be fenced, otherwise the dog can run away and try to expand the boundaries of its "possessions".

Alabai love the street, so it is advisable to have a Central Asian Shepherd Dog in a private house, not in an apartment. Dogs of this breed feel discomfort in confined spaces. Elderly dogs have a special need for fresh air. Alabai tolerate cold well, but in hot weather the dog should have access to a shaded area or a cool room.
