If you decide to go in for fish, then do not rush to the store to buy them. First, you have to do the painstaking work of arranging the aquarium, preparing it for settlement with living inhabitants. Before you buy fish, you need to go through several important steps in arranging a home for them.
Instructions
Step 1
Pour the aquarium water after it has settled for a few days. It is better if it is not in bottles, but in a basin or in glass jars. You need a wide throat so that the harmful substances that are in tap water (in particular, chlorine, which is fatal for fish and plants), have time to disappear.
Step 2
While the water is settling, fill the tank with soil and plants. The soil should be such that it is suitable for the fish you intend to start. Also plant plants in it. Bury the roots in the soil deeper. Since aquatic plants should be freely washed with water, you should not use fine sand, it will cake, and the roots will rot. Better to use small and medium pebbles, pebbles, etc.
Step 3
Do not plant too many plants - over time, they will grow, bloom, and it will be more difficult for you to maintain the aquarium, and it can also disrupt the microenvironment. Do not plant them too close to each other or near the front of the aquarium, they will obstruct your view and obscure the aquarium.
Step 4
After you have arranged the soil and planted the plants, fill the container with settled water. Do this carefully so as not to damage the soil, plants and reinforced equipment (lights, etc.). It is best to pour not over the edge, but onto a plate, then the water will drain in several trickles.
Step 5
After you have filled in the water, do not rush to add fish there. First, wait for the aquarium to establish its own microclimate. An aquarium is a closed ecosystem that, with a reasonable approach and proper care, will exist for several years. At first, the water will be cloudy and whitish due to the fact that many bacteria proliferate in the new environment. After a while, it will clear and become transparent, and the plants will get used to the transplant, recover and straighten out. Then and only then can you launch fish into the aquarium.
Step 6
In order for the aquarium to be a comfortable home for all its residents, it is necessary that the lighting in it be adjusted and a heater installed, as well as a filter. Also refresh the water from time to time. To do this, you need to plant the fish for a while in a spare aquarium with settled water, and replace part of the old (about 1/5 of the total volume) with new, settled water. At the same time, clean the aquarium, remove dead plants or parts of them. To keep the walls of the aquarium always clean, place several snails in it.
