A beautiful aquarium is a real decoration for any apartment. But if you do not take care of him or violate the biological balance in him by inept actions, all beauty disappears. Glasses are overgrown, water can turn green from the rapid development of unicellular algae. How can the disturbed balance be restored in this case?
Instructions
Step 1
The rapid development of algae, causing water bloom, occurs when the aquarium is brightly lit, at elevated temperatures and with a high content of nutrients in the water. The reason for the latter is often the use of too much dry food - the inhabitants of the aquarium do not have time to eat everything and, as a result, the remains rot and decompose.
Step 2
When faced with blooming water, do not try to clean it up with partial water changes. By adding fresh water, you add minerals necessary for the algae to the aquarium, as a result, the flowering of the water only intensifies.
Step 3
To restore the disturbed biological balance, turn off the aquarium lighting. If it is near a window, curtain the window to protect the aquarium from direct sunlight. Stop feeding the fish - a weekly hunger strike will not only not hurt them, but on the contrary, it will be good. Let aeration work, oxygen entering the water will accelerate the oxidation of fodder decay products and water purification. Remove accumulated debris from the bottom with a siphon. Within a week, you will be able to restore the aquarium to normal.
Step 4
One way to combat water bloom is to use daphnia. Introduce a large number of crustaceans into the aquarium so that the fish cannot eat them right away. Single-celled algae are food for daphnia, within 24 hours the water in the aquarium will become clear. This method requires good aeration of the aquarium - otherwise the daphnia may die, which will only increase flowering.
Step 5
An indirect reason for the rapid development of algae is the small number of plants in the aquarium. When there are a lot of plants, they actively absorb minerals, as a result, algae do not have enough of them for rapid development.
Step 6
Even in a normally functioning aquarium, the walls are gradually covered with a thin green coating. Use a razor-blade scraper to scrape off this plaque. If the plaque is brown, then this indicates insufficient lighting in the aquarium. The rear wall of the aquarium does not need to be cleaned.
