Having an aquarium in your home does not mean that hobbyism is a hobby. Very often, aquariums are bought to decorate an apartment as part of a design project, not knowing the intricacies of fish keeping. Unfortunately, the water often becomes cloudy, and it is very difficult to understand the reasons.
It is necessary
- - Filtration system;
- - water from another aquarium;
- - the right food for fish;
- - snails;
- - medicinal preparations.
Instructions
Step 1
If the water in your aquarium becomes cloudy, first of all check the filter function or its capacity. Don't try to save on an aquarium filter by purchasing one for a smaller aquarium. The filter element may not be able to cope with water purification, and it will become cloudy.
Step 2
Also, the water can become cloudy during the so-called "start-up" of a new aquarium. In this case, the new filter does not contain enough bacteria to neutralize fish waste. To solve this problem, add a few liters of water to your tank from another tank that has clear water.
Step 3
If it is not possible to get water from another aquarium, then you need to change the water more often, and then add dry bacteria and liquid enzymes to the water. These special products can be purchased at the pet store.
Step 4
Poor quality fish feed can also cause turbidity. Such food immediately becomes heavy and falls to the bottom, the fish do not have time to pick it up. At the bottom, the food begins to rot, and therefore the fish do not eat it. In addition, the water becomes cloudy from uneaten live food. Falling to the bottom, the worms burrow into the ground and die there. Therefore, feed live food in small portions and make sure the fish eat it completely.
Step 5
Also, the water in the aquarium will be cloudy if you overfeed your fish. Do not allow small children to feed the fish, or have them do it under your supervision. Overfeeding can cause not only water turbidity, but also fish diseases.
Step 6
If there are few snails in your aquarium, then the water will also become cloudy over time, since snails are the only orderlies of the bottom who eat food that has fallen down and lies under a layer of stones. The more snails you have, the cleaner your tank will be.
Step 7
Also, the water can become cloudy from dead fish. Take a close look at the aquarium, look under rocks, underwater grottoes and decorations. If you find a fish, immediately remove it from the water, and pour a special disinfecting solution into the aquarium. Just read the dosage for the dilution of such a drug, so as not to harm the remaining inhabitants of the aquarium.
