Step 1
In order for the kitten to accept the tray, it must be installed correctly. Try to choose a secluded place, hidden from prying eyes. The bathroom may be the ideal place, but proceed from the possibilities of your apartment.
Step 2
As soon as you bring the kitten home, immediately put it in the tray, stroke it a couple of times, say something affectionate and let it look around, sniff a new object for it.
Step 3
If you are accustoming kittens born in your home, wait 4 weeks. At this age, kittens begin to get out on their first independent travels around the room. Don't miss these walks. As soon as you notice that the kitten has stopped and tensed a little, take it and immediately transfer it to the nearby litter box. One or two times is enough for the baby to develop a conditioned reflex. Leave the litter box in the room for a week or two until the kittens are old enough to find a toilet where you can find a permanent place for it.
Step 4
In the event of a small or big trouble in the wrong place, show the kitten your displeasure, you can even scold him, but in no case do not punish physically. The maximum permissible is to tap it lightly with your index finger on the nose, while making a hissing sound. This is how the mother cat explains to the children that they did something impermissible. Then take the offender in your hands, take it to the tray, go to an affectionate tone.
Step 5
It may happen that the kitten does not like the litter box itself, the litter, or the smell of the detergent used to disinfect the litter box. Try to understand what is the reason for the rejection of the toilet. Sometimes you just need to stop washing it with bleach, as the situation changes dramatically and the kitten begins to use the litter box with visible pleasure.
