Dogs are usually very attached to their owners, so separation from them is always very painful. Like humans, dogs are prone to stress, and loneliness is one of the reasons for the development of neuroses. This leads to the fact that the pet begins to chew on shoes and things in the house, spoil and stain carpets, floors, howl and bark. It is necessary to gradually train the dog to sit at home alone so that it does not experience unpleasant emotions.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not give in to emotions, do not be angry with the dog, which is bored and disgraceful in the apartment while you are away. Try to understand your pet: in loneliness, he despairs, does not know if you will come back. The dog will get used to this position if you behave correctly and have patience. To train your dog to sit alone, first change your behavior when leaving home and returning. As a rule, the owners, when parting with the dog, tenderly console the animal, pet it and show positive emotions. Returning, the owners get angry because of the spoiled things and scold the dog. Behave the opposite: when parting, be cool, and when you come home, praise the dog, despite the mess.
Step 2
Give your pet a place of its own where it will feel safe. To do this, you can buy special doghouses for the house or do it yourself from boxes of a suitable size. Place a warm mat in the kennel. Train your dog to this place gradually: first put the booth in the bedroom and put something tasty there. Doors must be open so the dog can always get in and out. After a while, you can start covering and then closing the doors. Soon the dog will get used to its kennel and will consider it a safe place to stay while the owners are away.
Step 3
Train your dog to be alone, even if you do not leave the house. To do this, restrict access to any room where you are. A closed door for an animal should become a symbol of the soon return of the owner and the joy of meeting, not punishment. Leave the dog alone in the room, saying goodbye to it coolly, and after a while come back, praise and pet the animal.
Step 4
When the dog is accustomed to its place, move it to another room so that she, too, remains alone at night. So the dog will soon get used to the fact that the owners are not around, and will take it calmly.
