Dogs need regular nail trimming. If the claws are running, this is fraught with many troubles for the pet. These include ingrown claws, gait changes (lameness) and even joint problems. You need to cut your claws correctly.

Instructions
Step 1
Before trimming your dog's nails, familiarize yourself with the structure of the dog's nail and toe. In the middle of the claw there is living tissue - the pulp, in which the vessel passes. It cannot be damaged by cutting. By the way, the less often you cut the claws, the longer this vessel becomes over time and the more difficult it is to shorten the claw without damaging the living tissue. Take the dog's paw. Examine the pet's claw by defining the boundary between the horny insensitive tissue and the pulp. This is easy to do if the dog has white translucent nails. With black claws, the situation is more complicated. Perhaps it is better to contact a veterinary clinic or a professional gourmet for their haircuts.
Step 2
Next, take a special nail clipper-guillotine and, holding the paw, carefully cut off the very tip of the dog's nail. If the nails are short enough, then your task is to simply blunt them by cutting them literally a couple of millimeters. If the nails are long, do not try to cut them off in one go - there is a chance to damage the pulp. The site of injury will bleed and hurt, causing trouble for the pet. Shorten the claws to the desired length by almost a millimeter.
Step 3
Unlike cat's claws, the claw on the fifth (underdeveloped and far-apart) dog's toe must be cut off without fail, since it does not reach the ground and does not wear off during walks.
Step 4
If during a haircut you nevertheless damaged living tissue and saw blood, quickly press a cotton swab dipped in iodine or hydrogen peroxide or a styptic pencil to the wound.
Step 5
At the end of the manicure session, be sure to praise your pet for good behavior. Do not forget to treat him with a treat.
