Step 1
First of all, you need to decide in what position the dog should be when it lies. For domestic and hunting dogs, this can be a pose when the head of the dog rests on the front outstretched paws, and the nose touches the tips of the paws. The service dog always remains ready, its head must be raised. There are several ways to train your dog for a new command.
Step 2
Place the dog in front of you. Reach out your hand with your favorite toy or treat to its face, and then drag your hand down to reach the target. Say the command "lie down". Lower your hand until the dog lies down. Once the dog is in the correct posture, praise him and give him a tidbit. But don't overdo it and don't tire your pet.
Step 3
Place the collar and leash on your dog and place it on your left. Take the leash in your left hand and give the command to lie down. Pull the leash down immediately. When the dog obeys the command, give him a treat and praise him with the words "well done, lie down." This training method is suitable for non-aggressive young dogs.
Step 4
Observe the dog's behavior. Encourage her when she is in the position you want. For example, while walking, the dog got tired and lay down. Say the command "lie down" immediately. While the animal is in the right position, praise it, treat it. This training method is the longest.
Step 5
Proceed to teaching the command at a distance of a long leash, without a leash and by gesture (the right hand bent at the elbow with the palm turned down rises up and then goes down), as soon as the dog learns to follow the command to the voice.
Step 6
Repeat the exercise 3 to 4 minutes after completing it. Train your dog to respond to the command under all conditions. For example, command “lie down”, move about a meter away from the dog and ask another breeder to walk next to his dog. If your animal tries to get up, say "fu, place."
Step 7
Please note that the dog must follow the "lie down" command as soon as it sounded and at any distance from the owner. In this case, regardless of the environment, the dog must be in the prone position until the trainer cancels the command. Regularly reinforce and perfect the command, even when the dog has fully mastered it.
