Raising a small puppy should begin from the moment he gets into your house. Timely discipline will help you avoid many problems with your dog in the future. Teaching your puppy to lie down on command, otherwise known as laying, requires persistence and endurance.
Instructions
Step 1
Start practicing the command "Lie down!" after the other basic commands have been worked out and fixed with the puppy: "Place!", "Come to me!", "Fu!", "No!", "No!", "Next!", "Sit!"
Step 2
First place your little puppy with the Sit! Command. Wait a little, then take the treat you have stored (cheese cut into very small pieces, dry food pellets, dog biscuit pieces, etc.) and hold it up to your pet's nose. Having commanded "Lie down!", At the same time lower your hand with the treat first down to the front paws of the puppy, then move your hand straight forward. After reaching for a treat, the puppy will be forced to lie down in order not to fall, losing balance. Press a little with your left hand down on his withers, if he did not do it completely. As soon as the puppy lies down completely, treat him right away.
Step 3
If your puppy is three months old, put on a leash and sit him next to you. Leaning over your pet, grab it by the left shoulder, directly above the elbow joint (or by the forearm at the elbow), and with your right hand by the right. Having given the command “Lie down!”, Wait a second, then slightly lift his front legs off the floor, pulling them slightly forward. Having lost its balance, the puppy will lie down so as not to fall. Praise him in a calm voice when he does it to the end. Wait ten seconds, say “Okay!”, Let him get up and play with him.
Step 4
Practice the command ten times a day. You must ensure that your puppy learns to remain in the supine position for at least fifteen seconds.
