Ferrets are long-tamed decorative animals that have lived with humans for generations. It is believed that these wonderful animals were tamed by humans in ancient times, but in reality this happened about 4 centuries ago. Ferrets are very friendly animals that love their owners very much. And the owners, in turn, must do everything to keep their pet healthy. A fairly common disease in ferrets is stomach ulcers. This disease can be caused by stress or foreign objects in the gastrointestinal tract. The onset of the disease can even become hairballs trapped in the stomach.
Instructions
Step 1
Monitor your pet constantly. The symptoms of a peptic ulcer are:
- vomiting;
- black stools;
- decreased appetite;
- apathy;
- foamy salivation;
- dental problems;
- diarrhea;
- hard breath;
- a sharp decrease in weight. If one or more symptoms occur, begin treatment, following all the rules below.
Step 2
Give the animal Biaxin or Amoxicillin twice a day.
Step 3
Give him a coating preparation three times a day. They should be taken 15 minutes before a feed. They relieve pain associated with eating.
Step 4
Introduce baby chicken puree into a soft diet. They should be fed to the ferret at least 3 times a day after taking the coating products. The best option for the animal is to feed it every 4-6 hours. Full recovery of health will take about four weeks.
Step 5
Regularly carry out preventive measures aimed at preventing the appearance of peptic ulcer disease:
- keep the ferret less in the cage and from time to time walk it around the apartment;
- play with the animal, stimulate it to be active;
- in no case do not allow foreign body to enter the pet's body;
- try to reduce the level of stress for the animal;
- provide your ferret with professional food suitable for its diet and sufficient water;
- sometimes give petroleum jelly to the animal to remove hair from the stomach. But the main thing is to remember that a disease detected in time and a correct diagnosis can save your pet's life.
