Guinea pigs are very funny animals. They do not make a lot of noise, which is why they are often bought for small children. However, like other pets, guinea pigs need proper care. Fresh water is one of the components of the health of these animals. It is imperative to give your guinea pig a drink.
Instructions
Step 1
Scientists attributed guinea pigs to the order of rodents. However, unlike the latter, they cannot remain without water for a long time. If you want your pig to be healthy and fun, think about this in advance and buy a special drinker.
Step 2
The drinker is a device equipped with a special tip. This is where the water comes in after it passes through the filter. The device also has a special mount. Position the drinker so that the guinea pig can easily walk up to it. If you occasionally let your pet go for a walk around the room, rearrange the drinker, securing it to the outside of the cage.
Step 3
Be sure to monitor the condition of the water. The guinea pig drinks a lot, but it only needs fresh water. Otherwise, the animal may get sick. Remember that the animal will not be able to let you know when the water in the drinker runs out or when it acquires a strange and unpleasant taste.
Step 4
The presence of water in the cage is especially important during the adaptation of the guinea pig to a new place. When you just bought an animal, be sure to provide it with all the best conditions: put a drinker, put food, throw hay where the animal can hide.
Step 5
Also, in the life of a guinea pig, a period may come when, due to health problems, the animal practically does not eat or drink. In no case do not let it take its course, because for your pet hunger means death. In most cases, such exacerbations occur during the transition of spring to summer and autumn to winter. You have to go out your guinea pig yourself. To do this, prepare a special puree from lettuce, dry food and water. Grind all this thoroughly and give the animal in small portions using a syringe every 3-4 hours. Don't forget to give your guinea pig a drink, too. But be careful - you can give the animal water between, and not during feeding.
