Iguana is a reptile and when buying an animal, you should clearly understand that this is far from a dog and it will not happily wag its tail. It has a natural habitat, not a cramped terrarium. If she nevertheless appeared in your house, but does not crave communication, you need to establish contact with her. Remember that iguanas can hit very hard with their tail and even bite, and not just sparkle their eyes evilly and squint unkindly in your direction.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not try to come into close contact with a reptile at first, it will not end well. Provide the animal with a comfortable living environment. Friendship at a distance should last for about 2-3 weeks, and then proceed with caution, but at the same time decisively. Try not to scare the animal with sudden movements and loud words.
Step 2
If the iguana runs away from you, do not overtake it, and do not catch the reptile by the tail. When it starts to get in your hands, you yourself will notice it. If you pet her, be sure to treat her to something tasty. The iguana will soon realize that you are not a danger to her and will be more willing to make contact with you. By the way, it has been noticed that reptiles get used to a caring person very much and begin to resemble a cat. They love to be petted and talked, so give the iguana a little more attention during the habituation period.
Step 3
Well, the warmest relationship with a reptile can be made at the last stage of friendship - bathing. Iguanas are very fond of doing water procedures in warm water. After the bath, they become kind and agreeable. But don't try to invade her personal space - they don't like it. The independent nature of the reptile and complete self-sufficiency interferes with a closer friendship, but if you love your iguana, then you will understand it.
