The hunter's task is to strengthen the bait so that the mink cannot pass the trap. To do this, put everything that comes under your hand in the previously found and prepared groove. It can be branches, stones, leaves - any natural material. The result should be a miniature hut.

Place a trap at the entrance of the hut. Place bait at the far end. Anyone who has experience in hunting mink knows that it is convenient to use birch bark for this purpose. Remove the birch bark cover from the dried trunk. Close one end and put bait in it.
Step 4
Install the pipe near the mink's habitat. Place a trap at the end of the pipe. If hunting takes place during the cold season, it is important to ensure that no water gets into the trap mechanism. For this, the device must be installed correctly.

Place leaves, twigs, dry grass, moss under the trap. Thus, the trap will not freeze to the ground. Since unfamiliar objects in a mink evoke more curiosity than fear, it is not necessary to mask the trap.

Minks are near-water animals, therefore they are looking for salvation in the water. Knowing this, attach the trap to a peg driven into the water at a leash distance. Thus, an animal caught in a trap will not be able to get out onto land and will drown.

Use fresh wild game meat as bait. For example, black grouse, hazel grouse or wood grouse. You can also use pieces of fish. However, the smell of fish is far less attractive to the mink than the smell of fresh meat.
